Getting to Niece was a 8+~ hour drive, which started in beautiful Vouvray France, we hadnt seen the surroundings here as we got in late the first and second nights and the morning we left was foggy. I snapped a few pics of the fields, wineries and town. The parking lot was where we came close to an accident. Doms first time driving this car and it was shifting to first up a hill from a complete stop, Doms Achilles heel.
We drove it at night, crazy first impression of the city. People popping off wheelies is all you can hear all over town. The city had a shady vibe right off the bat. We got into our hotel (http://www.hotelcomtedenice.com/), which had a hilarious shower situation, you pretty much had to hold the shower head while showering, there was no way to fixate the shower head while you stood up. We wrapped out the night w/ Loire's wines - Un air de bourgueil - le rose chantant des bords de loire - rose and a red. The loire vin's all had a very light and fruity taste. Very fitting with the vibe down there.
The next morning we all went our separate ways, I went running on the Anglais Promenade and the girls went to a museum. I was hoping for a Russian vibe of food and church sighting, but both were a disappointment. The Russian Orthodox cathedral, was boarded up and the food didnt exist. WIkipedia link
The highlight of Nice was definitely the climb to the top of the Colline du Chateau overlook, the views were amazing and the cemetery at the top was really cool.
Then I met up with the girls and we hung out on the beach at sunset. The weather was cooling, but I was able to use my swim trunks for the first and only time on this trip!
Later in the night we went to a club (Waynes), good dancing, people watching and a good way to cap off the night in Nice. Watching a few German cats dancing w/ their shirts buttoned up was hillarious and "German face" was born. Our ride home was on the back of a bicycle cart w/ a boombox strapped in. Good finish to a fun day in Nice. There was also a money kebob place by our hotel that is a must to check out (potatoes in the Kebob makes the difference). Try finding it Best kebob in Europe. Coming from Avenue Malaussena, going west on these small streets
- rue vernier
- passage malaussena
- rue clement roassal
Next day we drove to Roma. Overall, South of France would be a fun return trip, where you could go from the bottom St Tropez to the North Italy coast to feel out all the little towns and villages, not sure that would be at the top of the exploration list. Would probably do South of Spain and / or Portugal first. Hearing good things about it and never been.
