San Jose, Costa Rica

My dad and I got into San Jose around noon and chose to take the bus into town vs a taxi. We jumped on the wrong bus and got taken to Heredia, slightly north of SJ. Initial impression is that it's a sketchy little town.

We made it to our airbnb, which was inside of a yoga studio, dropped off our stuff and headed on the town. After settling in for a minute, we decided to go scouting our pick up spot for the morning. I saw a good dinner / lunch place on Google, Cafe Mundo, and we stopped there for a bite and Sangria.  Great food and atmosphere! After scouting the location, we decided to go back to the house to regroup, there we met Stacey, our bnb host and yoga instructor, she was an American, living in San Jose and she gave us some San Jose and Costa tips.

We headed out for a few beers, and while the spot and street was good for people watching,  it was missing a certain something. We sat in a multi level establishment and threw back a bunch of beers and sangrias just catching up, after a few hours, we decided to make our way back to the bnb and possibly locate something on the way.

On out way to the bnb, I spotted a gem! Stiefel Pub, is a great local bar that had local beer, good bites and Das Boots. The place was boiling over with local SJ youth and had a grungier vibe. It was exactly what we needed to experience San Jose. After putting drinking down our boots and smashing some fish tacos, we headed in. Early morning ahead. This place was awesome!
