Fontana village

I arrived at the lodge around 845pm. Interesting place, Fontana village was a place built for the folks who built the dam. When the project was done they converted it into a little tourist trap.

It has a bunch of cabins, a lodge, pool, courts and a hiker dream, a single building with a laundromat, general store / outfitter and post office.

I was able to catch dinner at the lodge, right before they closed. Pasta Alfredo with huge shrimp and a tall glass of Michigan beer, IPA, will need to see if taco mac has it when I get back.

Nice room for 50 bucks, really upscale. It was the first real shower I took on my trip. Nice complimentary soap and shampoo. First shower that I didn't have to wear my crocs into and felt cleaner coming out afterwards.

I learned of the sad news that the braves are last in the division and the hawks were down 0-1 to the magic. Atlanta sports arefalling a part back home :(

I set my alarm to 8am and was down at the laundromat by 9. Interesting picture, a bunch of shirtless hikers doing laundry and running back and fort reloading their packs. It's tough to stay clothed and do your laundry at the same time.

I got my package, reloaded all my shit and resent it to Erwin. I also picked up some powdered milk, to make Alfredo pasta sidesand add to my oatmeal.

I did such a good job w my food that I was at Fontana w 1 teabag, little bit of ramen, 1 candy bar and 1 salmon packet. That's good planning.

While buying cards for everyone, I realized their gift shop or the store had no smoky mtns postcards, only the dam, WTF ?

I realized that somehow the tarp fell out of my pack when I was coming down to Fontana, multiple hikers saw it a mile or so before the road. Not sure how to feel, extra weight gone, nice luxury gone too. Sorry that I lost your tarp baby.
