Sunday 5-9

Mothers day, long day of hiking today. You can see frosty peaks of mtns and it is coooold, the sun is out bu it is chilly. Everytime i stop, i have to put on dry clothes to avoid losing body heat.

Clingmans dome
Pretty nice climb to clingmans dome. It is the highest point on the AT and I think it's the highest point east of the Mississippi. It has money 360 degree views of the smokeys, nantahala forest and beyond. There is a road going to it and it is currently closed for construction. It is also the coldest point on the AT :) i was very fortunate to be here on a clear day as the rain and clouds aremoving in. You can see the effects of air pollution as it affects visibility, it is written that a few decades ago you can see much further out.

Called my mom from the spot, but she didn't answer, happy mothers day!

Stayed at mt Collins shelter. Got there around 8 pm, it was cold and was nice to finally get there. When I arrived I bumped into buck twenty, puck and burrel again. I guess the took a nero. Met Jeremy from Philly who was day hiking the smokeys. Buck twenty snores so loud that the shelter was vibrating, I could not fall asleep, I am starting to hate shelters and the over hiked smokeys.
