Woke up at Blackrock Mtn Hut with a slight bourbon induced hangover, shelter is mostly empty by now, Im ready to get to the campgrounds. Im craving soda, snacks and human interaction. Stopped off at a picnic area for some food and water. As soon as I walked down the stairs to get back on the AT, Tara took off after an animal, I quickly realized it was a bear cub, our first bear sighting. Momma and another cub were just a few feet away. I called Tara off and back peddled through the woods to avoid the mamma bear. Got to the camp-store and started drinking sodas and eating ice cream. I saw my German friends coming down the hill, Stefan asked if I wanted beer. We bought 2 Sam Adams sixers and drank them on the spot. It was my first sign of relaxation, nice day, two interesting strangers, alcohol, no worries. We bought more beer and headed back to their campsite, they landed a money site (A10a) gorgeous view! Sky was clear with a ton of stars that night, saw my first shooting star of the trip.
