If you are going from Volcano Arenal to Montaverde, you'll probably come across this tour, the claim to fame is that it cuts a straight line across the lake, so its faster than taking the normal road on the highway. Kind of makes sense, except it took us 2 hrs longer to get there than promised. So, it may be a wash, but I would do it. It seems like the logical move.
We woke up early to catch this ride to Monteverde. The ride on Lake Arenal (45-1hr) is pretty, you are moving on a slow boat, across some nice scenery. We again, didnt see the Volcano as it was pretty cloudy.
When you get off the boat, the ride in a van to Monteverde is 30 km (~17 mi) on a dirt road through views of locals and napa valley looking views. Despite the name, there is no jeep, you are in a van full of tourists, driving down a shitty, bumpy road for 2+ hours.
Instead of Monteverde, we opted for Santa Elena, the bus dropped us there to conclude our Volcano Arenal part of the trip.
