Late night drinking with new found friends in Manuel Antonio, naturally led to night swimming in the ocean.
While this may be obvious to most people, it's not something I've ever dealt with. Just standing waist deep in the ocean, slowly turns into... chest deep.... slowly turns into right above your head deep.... The tide slowly pulling you away.
By the time you turn around the coast is far far away. We swam back and after a decent effort, found ourselves still to far for comfort. The second effort was still too far, so was the third. Eventually, we made it out, realizing how close we came. Apparently, if you get too far out, you cant even see the shore anymore, so you dont know which way to swim. Scary fucking stuff.
Bottom line, shots, drinking, yelling Pura Vida and ocean swimming might have dire consequences.

If you get one thing from this blog, I hope it's this warning and it might save your or someone else's life.
