Wednesday 6-2

The b and b offered a slack pack service to dennis cove, which was 25 miles away. A slack pack is where a shuttle service either takes you or your pack ahead and you either walk to the pack or back to the hostel with a day pack. There are a few sections where it can be done as you need the right mileage, roAd access, etc. This was a perfect opportunity to do it, as Dennis cove has a legendary hostel ran by Bob Peoples. So the folks at Mtn harbor took my pack to Peoples place and I took off with a day pack. It was a nice scenic day, passed two waterfalls bumped into some friends from a while back and found Connecticut having lunch.

Night hiking
Since I left at 10:30am, I had to do some night hiking for abot two hours to get to Kinkora, night hiking is best done with a full moon, but we had to use our headlamps After the sunset. Before we hit the road, we turned off our headlamps to watch the light bugs in the field; I have never seen anything like it, it looks like kick off before the superbowl, when everyone takes pictures. Usually you see a handful of bugs, but There must have been hundreds of thousands here, a camera cannot capture an experience like this.

Once we finally got to Kincora it was late and time to go to sleep. Slack packing is def the way to go, I averaged about 3.2 miles an hour. Still, full pack or slack pack, 25 miles is 25 miles.
