Hightop Hut - Tue - 8-6-13

It was raining when we woke up. Not pouring, but enough to not want to get out of bed. Luckily its another short day 8.4 to the next hut (I really hate this hut hopping and feel like it cancels out the joy of the national parks). Tara and I are now in the hiking groove, she takes the lead on uphills and lets me lead on the down hills. Today I finished reading "what the most successful people do before breakfast", something I've heard in different forms and books before. The gist is will power is like a muscles and you only have a limited access to it. So make all the things that are important, but nor urgent into routine, in the mourning, that way no matter how your day flows you accomplished whats important to you. It felt like the day was all steep uphill, but we still got it done quickly. We are now powering through 4-5 miles with no breaks. At camp the same church group from Indiana is setup, looks like we are following the same path. Everyone got in super early and we are all milling around, like death row inmates waiting for doomsday. I hate this form of hiking as I would have loved to put in another 5 or six miles, but don't want to make another 10 miles to the next hut. You are allowed to camp between huts, but there is really not an easy place to do it.
